Another minor content patch (3.3.3) is up on the PTR and this one has a lot of changes for anyone interested in how to make gold in WoW. So here is another of my heads up post about upcoming changes that will impact your bank balance.

UPDATE: Patch 3.3.3 released tomorrow (3/21/2010)!

The big change is the removal of cooldowns for the higher end profession mats  titansteel, moonshroud, spell and ebonweave. The cost of these items will fall as their availability increases. There will still be gold to be made on these, since they still require a high skill in the relevant profession to create, but you will now be relying on selling in quantity for that gold.

In other news, Frost Orbs will now be able to be traded for other items, like essences. Multiple Frost Orbs will be tradeable for Runed and Crusader Orbs. The number of Frost Orbs available has increased a huge amount since the introduction of the Dungeon Finder, while their usefulness has decreased. As a result,  their price has dropped by an insane amount. You may see the price increase a little again as they become more useful. I would save any Frost Orbs that you get right now until after the patch.

When the Inscription profession was first added to the game, glyphs sold very well and fetched a good price and the profession was a real cash cow. In patch 3.0.x, if you wanted to know how to make gold in WoW, Inscription was the answer.

The problem with the glyph market now is that so many people got into it, the markets became flooded and the costs have dropped by a LOT. Having said that, people DO still buy them and they are very cheap to make. So the answer is yes, you can make gold with Inscription. The keys to it are low prices and volume.

Basically, you need to charge only a little more than the cost of your materials for most glyphs, so that you undercut your market. And you need to make lots and sell lots. Fill up your bank and sell, sell, sell!

A good tip is to build a relationship with a herbalist to supply you with the herbs you need. Offer him a lower price, but guarantee that you will buy everything he gathers by CoD.  He doesn’t get stuck with herbs that won’t sell and you are getting mats for glyphs cheaper than other scribes. Win for him (or her) and win for you!

And as always, look for new recipes in each patch. Those glyphs will sell like hot cakes for a few days after the patch goes live, so be ready with mats when the servers come up.

Its true that a lot of gold secrets of World of Warcraft aren’t much use while you rleveling. Either because you have to be high level to do them or because they take too much time that you really don’t want to waste while your leveling up.

So what players who are leveling really need is a strategy that will show them how to make gold at any level and that will not force them to take tons of time away from leveling and questing.

The absolute best way to do this is to use gathering professions. I advise that you take mining and skinning. Mining is the real money maker, so you need to take that one. Now Herbalism may be more profitable than skinning (maybe) but there are a couple reasons to take it. The first is that you will not need to go out of your way to gather, because you will be killing beasts anyway. Secondly, you can only have one ‘detect’ spell up at once, so you cannot be detecting minerals and detecting herbs at the same time.

With mining, you can make money off the raw ore and the smelted bars. High levels who want to powerlevel mining will pay well for raw ore, especially lower level ores. Use Auctioneer to determine whether bars or ore will make you more gold. Using Auctioneer to price your good is something you must learn if you want to see how to make gold in WoW.

Ahh, its new patch time again and that means plenty of opportunities to make gold that less observant folks will not have spotted. WoW entrepreneurs know that there are always profits hidden away in those patch notes and 3.1 is no exception. Read them carefully and you will see a few great ways to make fast gold in WoW.

One of things you should always look for is new crafting recipes. Look for those that have highly desirable products and that use mats which are currently cheap or at least affordable.

Those mats are the items you should be buying up and hoarding until the day the patch is released. And because I am just nice like that, I am going to give you a free gold making tip for this patch.

Titansteel - Its Gonna Be Big!

Titansteel is going to be big, believe you me. Blacksmiths won’t be able to get enough of this stuff so its going to be a great way to make gold in WoW after patch 3.1 goes live. The new smithed purple items require at least 10 titansteel each.  Heres a (likely  incomplete) list of new recipes at WoW Insider.
